David talks about his career at Microsoft from being the intern developer on Windows NT to his current role on the .NET Framework team, and offers his thoughts on the future of Windows and managed code.

David Treadwell is corporate vice president of the .NET Developer Platform team in the Developer Division at Microsoft Corp. He is responsible for Microsoft's new managed developer platform, which includes the Microsoft .NET Framework and Common Language Runtime (CLR), the core runtime platform of the .NET Framework; the .NET Compact Framework, which brings the platform to small devices and cell phones; the Microsoft Web server Internet Information Services (IIS); the Web development tool ASP.NET; the Windows and .NET Framework SDKs; and several centralized Developer Division teams, such as User Education, International and Engineering. In his role, Treadwell oversaw the successful releases of the .NET Framework 1.0 and 1.1 releases now used by 56 percent of enterprises.
