Microsoft Philanthropies with Jeremy Pitman

Episode #1404 Tuesday, January 24, 2017

Can you help a charity move to the cloud? Carl and Richard talk to Jeremy Pitman of Microsoft Philanthropies about the new offering to provide $5000 worth of Azure credit to any qualified non-profit organization. The offering includes tools like Office 365 and Dynamics CRM - things that are pretty straightforward to implement. Even using Azure to set up a WordPress blog is simple - but what if you want to lift-and-shift an existing charity website? Perhaps .NET Rocks listeners could be helping their local charities to make this a reality! Beyond the basics, the cloud offers great new capabilities in analytics that can make charities even more effective! Public cloud for public good!

Guests:

Jeremy Pitman

Growing up near Bend Oregon, Jeremy Pitman enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2001 out of high school and split his time between an Anti-Terrorism Security Team, Infantry, and doing Technical Project Management work. The Marines brought him to Washington State, Maine, Virginia, North Carolina, Afghanistan and the beautiful beaches of Oahu, Hawaii.

Jeremy left his beloved Marine Corps in 2008. He became a vendor for Microsoft running disaster response exercises and overseeing Microsoft Global Security Operations Centers in the US, UK, and India. In 2011, Jeremy was hired full time as a Technical Account Manager in Microsoft Services, managing client relationships and services for several customers in the Northwest including Netflix, Darigold, PEMCO, Vision Service Plan, and Davis Wright Tremaine.

Jeremy received an undergraduate degree from Hawaii Pacific University and is (as of January, 2017) pursuing an MBA from Northwest University. In his off time you may find Jeremy skiing, mountain biking, having a bonfire with friends and community, watching/playing sports, going on family road trips throughout the Northwest (sometimes Adult cruises without the kids), or simply spending time outdoors. Jeremy is an advocate for the disadvantaged. He ferociously loves his family and those close to him, and currently lives in Sammamish, WA with his wife of 12 years, Andrea, and three beautiful daughters – Olivia, Emily, and Ava.
