Dr. Yngve Falck-Ytter talks Medicine and Software
Carl and Richard talk to Dr. Yngve Falck-Ytter about his efforts to understand programming. Yngve talks about the limitations of the software in the medical industry and how he's learned to work around it with some of his own programming. Ultimately the conversation digs into the idea that good software can make treatments more effective and less expensive and, in the end, save more lives.

Yngve Falck-Ytter
Dr. Falck-Ytter is Associate Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University and Chief, Division of Gastroenterology at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center, Cleveland. His research interest focuses on clinical trials as well as research methodology and evidence translation. He has previously held appointments as Associate Director at the German Cochrane Center and Institute for Biostatistics at the University of Freiburg, Germany, teaching systematic review methodology. He is a frequent speaker on evidence-based medicine topics and has served as guideline methodologist to various organizations such as the US and European Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC and ECDC), the World Health Organization, and Medical Societies. In his spare time, he listens to DotNetRocks, RunAsRadio and Hanselminutes to better understand the world of software development. He lives with his wife and children in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
