Nathan Pocock on OPC and Factory Automation
Carl and Richard get the skinny from Nathan Pocock on OPC (open process collabaration), and the advances made using OPC as a comprehensive interface with PLCs (programmable logic controllers).
Nathan Pocock is Chief Architect and software developer at Software Toolbox. He has been Immersed in OPC since mid-2001, and .NET in late 2001. He has designed and written many custom and commercial OPC applications and development toolkits. Nathan built the first commercial .NET OPC client application in early 2002, and designed and co-wrote the first OPC Client to pass the OPC Independant Test Lab Certification testing in April of 2008. Nathan is an advocate of leveraging .NET technologies for building custom OPC software, be they Winforms, WebForms, Services or Console applications.
